Tracing Bleach?

Post by Zpo25 on Sun Mar 07, 2010 12:16 pm

- Sorry if this is in the wrong forum -

Hi guys Smile

A friend of mine showed me this article: http://community.livejournal.com/bleachness/446299.html

It looks like this guy (deviantart here: http://letsleepinggodslie.deviantart.com/) has been tracing Bleach and various other manga.

Just wondering what you think about it. Alot of people has been putting mean comments on his page.

Just thought I'd share this news with you, since I know there is a few Bleach fans here Smile

Oh, already heard of that. It's not just dA. There's actually a comic the guy's writing - and it's almost plagiarizing Bleach (and others, if I've heard well).
Also, if anything, this topic ought to be in the Cultural Club or Soleana Hotel, as it's not a REVIEW.

Yet one other funny detail - you're linking to ED. AFAIK, you shouldn't, as there is content that may not be acceptable from the rules' standpoint.

That's not just wrong, it's highly illegal. That guy should be sued for copyright, plagiarism, and maybe infringement.

The link to ED has been deleted, sorry; that place is way too satrical and is pretty much suicidal to go to if you don't want a virus.

That's pretty bad. People will do anything for publicity, though, especially on DA.

It is bad indeed, and I just find it wrong.

Uh, you know, extreme satire isn't really the problem, and viruses (I still wonder why the hell it's not spelled "viri" or "virii") are far from being a concern on ED. Besides, I suspect that the only way to get one is by clicking some ad you shouldn't.

But still, ED is quite the haven for folks who like to ruin people's lives; particularly hackers and the like. I know I sound like an asshole here, but no ED links. That's just about as NSFW as it gets.

Hackers on ED? Well, then call me ignorant for never noticing anything that might harm one's computer besides the Triforce image telling how to delete system32. I'm pretty positive that the people who go there are just normal persons like you and me who feel sort of bored. Sure, many may have a sick sense of humour, but they're... harmless.

NOW! If you delete a link to ED due to the NSFW content, then yes, I approve your action.

It just sort of bothers me how everyone seems to point every finger to ED, 4chan, etc as some sort of hacker-hub and whatnot - which they're not. Sure, they send out raids. Sure, some of them may be hackers, but there are hackers in many other places. But that's just as far as it goes. They're not some army of cyber-terrorists as most people and the media seem to make them look like.

Ask Tizo, I guess. Till then, I'm keeping the deletion up. I still don't trust ED. I've lost one forum to them, and I've been pretty wary since.

Yeah, not that it really matter at this point, but Imma remind you that yous guys are goin off topic yeah.

Now, back on topic, I could actually care less about bleach and any other manga he rips off of (now ask me this again if starts ripping of Negima! and I'll give you a different answer). I don't read most shonen jump (or whatever), because they don't interest me. Now, it may not seem like it, but tracing is a form of practice, and I may not know the whole situation, but if he admits that the drawings aren't %100 his, it's all good an all, but if he doesn't, it's a different story yeah. On another note, his tracing is ALMOST!! And I mean ALMOST, as bad as all the sonic recolours I see all over the net yeah. Sonic recolours (or any recolour fer dat matter), is as low as you can go yeah.

Suppose so long as he acknowledges the fact that the stuff isn't his by copyright and that he says where the original permissions were given, it wouldn't be too bad an issue.

But there is an awful lot to be concerned about when you don't do what I just explained above. I can understand why they've been putting such comments on his page. It's not fair for others to profit from someone else's work without permissions.

Keep it to yourself if you do such things, then you won't be slammed for plagiarism.
