My Super 7: Game Characters
Bear in mind that many of my choices can be disagreeable to some of you, but I have opinions as you do.
Let's get this on!
7: Nightmare (from Soul Calibur series)
I happen to think that this guy is the epitamy of epicness and evilness. Over each game he's been re-designed and re-developed until he looks and sounds like he does in SCIV (and I must say, both these things are fantastic, see image above). He's hell-bent on bringing darkness unto the entire world with the aid of the Cursed Sword Soul Edge, and I like a character like that. He's not the best character on the roster (this can be widely disputed mind you...), but Nightmare fits the bill of the antagonist perfectly. He's so epic, I have a desktop wallpaper with him on it! Detecting substantial level of fanboyism Err... moving on...
6: Teensies (from Rayman series)
(It was the only decent-looking image I could find...) This might seem really weird and childish, but they are funny little buggers. They're basically a group of Munchkin-type people who are completely clueless about who is their leader, and are constantly scrapping with each other over the issue much to the frustration of our limbless hero. Not only that, but when they're not brawling, they're really helpful guys who point the way for you (I'd have been scuppered playing Rayman Revolution without their god-like knowledge). Did I mention that they're really funny buggers with this really weird can-can-dance-type thingy that they do to this spanish music to open up a teleport wormhole? It cracks me up...
5: Lara Croft (from Tomb Raider series)
Time to get serious. What you can do with this woman defies the abilities of about 99.999% of the entire Earth's population. She's a brilliant acrobat whose moves and equipment are well suited to the general gameplay and she's also a well thought-out and developed character with an interesting backstory. Though her hints to (supposedly) help you proceed through the levels will just annoy you if you're not the kind of gamer that likes to be left to figure out the puzzle yourself. And the movie parodies were generally not received well. That aside, the games are brilliantly designed and put your Mystery Inc. skills to the test. She's also got the most amazing outfits. Look so s- W-What? Sorry, I was fantasising...
4: The Apprentice (from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed)
This guy's game tells the most amazing story of the entire saga in my opinion. Starkiller (to give him his codename) was the son of a great Jedi Knight, but Vader adopts him as his apprentice when he defeats the Jedi Knight on Kashyyyk. Sent on a quest to eliminate the remaining Jedi in the galaxy and gather a Rebellion army against the Emperor, he stumbles afoul of some really pissed-off Rancors, falls in love and discovers his true roots. The Apprentice has to be one of the most excellently developed characters I have ever seen, and his movesets show you the true destructive power of the Force with absolutely magnificent special effects which looks brilliant in XBOX and PS3 high definition. His story is also cleverly thought out. An amazing guy.
3: Luigi (from Mario series)
Seriously, why does no-one pays attention to WEE-GEE?! I reckon this guy needs much more respect to equal that of his puffy-mustachioed older brother. Everytime I play something like MarioKart or Super Smash Bros, I always choose Luigi over Mario. Mario's too... all-rounded for me; I prefer to be challenged with more enhanced moves designed to test your ability to adapt, and Luigi has always provided that for me. I've never played his haunted mansion spin-off game, but I'll take people's word that it was highly enjoyable. So next time you hear Red-man shout "SUPER MARIO (whatever)!!!!", just remember: Don't forget Luigi!
2: Shadow The Hedgehog (from Sonic series)

In my view, he is the only decently likeable Sonic character to be introduced during 2000-2010. It really was a case of first come, first serve with Shadow. I can see it now: He steps up to the plate and just shoves everyone else aside saying: "Get out of my sight. I was here first. I will be the one and only rival of Sonic, I AM THE ULTIMATE! I AM OVER 9000!!!" But seriously, he's the only good anti-Sonic to have been conjured up (not taking ANYTHING away from Metal Sonic), it's really a shame that his solo outings and recent appearances have not been accepted that well (hope SEGA can DO SOMETHING about it!). His character and attitude in the series are top class, not really sure about his backstory though. Pretty much why Shadow's lost out my number 1 spot to...
1: The Arbiter (from Halo series)
(fan-artist's impression)
Easily one of the most kickass characters in the Halo Universe (WIDELY disputed, I'm sure...). This is the one guy who never backs down from a fight, has a great sense of patriotism and honour, and has an absolutely stunning character design. His story is based on him being disgraced by the Prophets of the Covenant, and much of his kind being outcasted from the army, but he steps up and teams with the humans to stop the Covenant's dastardly plan. His voice acting is done by Keith David, a big name from other series such as Mass Effect, Saint's Row and even Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, who does an excellent job in both Halo 2 and 3, and by far the best line in his script is "Asshole!" when he strikes the Prophet of Truth down in Halo 3. Extremely likeable, looks great, well developed, I can't ask for much more.
You're free to argue with this however much you want, I will value your opinion as much as I do with mine. Just thought I'd like to share my view.

Re: My Super 7: Game Characters
Nightmare is well goddamned awesome as f*ck, indeed. Extremely badass
however, I really have to disagree with one - Starkiller? STARKILLER? Seriously... he kind of feels like some fan character. He doesn't feel... right. It doesn't feel like a real character at all. He looks out of place
just my opinion, though.

I value Cave's opinion though. I can understand why he thinks that. It's maybe because this guy was in a one-off parody of the saga, and to be fair, he does look fan-character-ish. But I think he's been incredibly well developed, and his game is great too.

Yes, I know it's HIS list. Doesn't mean I can't say anything about it, right? I mean, if it's here, it means that we can give our opinions, right?

Yeah, but I'm just saying. These are also his opinions. You were talking like it was an illogical sin, that he would put Starkiller on his list...

Looking back at the post, yes, maybe I could've phrased it a bit better...
