Heavy Rain

I'm gonna say something controversial here: I thought this game was REALLY bad.

Bad story, bad gameplay and bad controls. THE ONLY thing it has
going for it, are the graphics... It's trying to be the new
Shenmue, and fails MISERABLY.

The main problem are the CONTROLS! That a**hole NEVER goes where you want him to... he controls like a f*cking forklift.
Also,
the Quicktime events are TERRIBLE. I hate those, overall... I mean, is THAT
what everyone says is the "New Wave of Gaming" featured in Heavy Rain?
A game that has NOTHING but Quicktime events in it? Shenmue had some,
sure, but they never dominated the game.

Also, this game is VERY slow... I fell asleep around the part where I had to look for the kid in the mall...

And
the plot is BAD! There are plotholes everywhere and all the characters
are IDIOTS! The 1st son that died, DESERVED to die. The f*cker ignored
his dad, ran around the mall and then across the street without looking
to see if there was a car nearby. Ethan is a TERRIBLE father, and it's
HIS fault that the f*cker died.

I really couldn't stand this
game... I'm guessing I might generate some of controversy saying
that... but that's how I feel about the game...

I was going to say that the graphics and the textures looked really good...
But I can see what you mean when you say the controls are messed up. I recently saw a YouTube vid of when you're in the shop with the wooly hat robber and thought the constant change in camera looked to be what was buggering up the controls, plus I'm not a huge fan fo quicktime events.

Nope. Played it on my friend's PS3.

Well, CERTAINLY not by the dock... Waay too obvious... Does your dad ever disappear, then come back saying "Oh, I just had to see a friend.", or "Just had to do some EXTRA work."? He probably knows, then. Ask him.

I played the demo, it was allright, best played in the hardest difficulty setting though, it's much more challenging and the QTEs actually more varied, complex and fun to perform.

The game is a QTE fest yeah, but I had fun with it, the walking controls are the worst I've ever seen or used in my life >=(.
I thought the basic premise was allright, nothing we haven't heard or seen before in other games.
It's too hard to see on night time scenarios, making you feel disoriented.
The graphics are amazing, but some textures are a bit blurry. Lip sync, eye movement and look of the characters are awesome, but the voice acting is kind of poor.

I never thought of it being the next Shenmue though... I've always thought that it was trying to be a movie of some sorts, because it's what it is, it's a movie where you choose were the story goes or what the character does and how the story ends.

I had fun with the game, but do I want to buy it? No.
